Beijing set to get new airport by 2017

The new airport will have nine runways and will manage over 130 million passengers plus 5.5 million tonnes of cargo per year.

The new airport which will be located in Daxing has not been named yet but is set to be completed by October 2017.

The Airport is positioned 46km south of Tiananmen Square, Beijing’s political centre, and it will cover an area of 2,680 hectares (6,620 acres)

The new airport comes as two of Beijing’s other international airports have reached capacity in handling capacities.
